Can Better Parenting Solve The Problem Of Increasing Crime Rate?

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

The only way to solve the increasing crime rate of young offenders is to teach parents better parenting skills.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The modern times have presented youngsters and their parents with many new challenges. The biggest among them is a criminal tendency among juveniles and young adults, highlighting the need to bring improvements in the quality of parenting young parents are capable of.

To begin with, parenting is a more difficult task in the current era because of rise in the nuclear family system. In the past, grandparents and other members were such a resource for the children for acquiring many values. They were not dependent on their parents solely. However, nowadays, children spend that family time with gadgets, leaving them exposed to all kinds of external bad influences. Thus, parents need to acquire better skills to bridge that gap and provide a conducive environment.

Furthermore, parents, these days face greater stress due to their inability to balance between work and personal life. They lack time. Even there are more cases of family discord. Hence, children from a young age are prone to neglect and inappropriate behavior. This again strongly points towards the lack of skilled parenting.

In light of all the above, I believe it is pivotal for parents to improve upon their parenting styles and gain the necessary techniques to raise the kind of children they want. It can be achieved by being in touch with other parents, attending parenting seminars, or seeking expert counseling, as and when needed. Teaching the right values to the children can reduce cases of eve-teasing, ragging, bullying, rapes, robberies, cyber crimes and many other crimes.

In conclusion, parenting is expected to be a natural skill among people. Nonetheless, there is a need to take this role a bit more seriously in the progressing times, to lead to a crime-free society.
