Should children engage in organized group activities or independent solo activities?

Some people say that parents should encourage their children to take part in organized group activities in their free time. Others say that it is important for children to learn how to occupy themselves on their own.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Whether caregivers ought to enroll their young ones in supervised group activities or independent solo activities has forever been a point of discussion as both have their own pros and cons.

To begin with, participating in activities under the guidance of a mentor has many benefits for children. Firstly, a teacher can present a well-defined approach towards any activity, which can help the learners to acquire the skills faster. Secondly, a trained professional can assess improvements against the set benchmarks, which helps the students to get useful feedback to speed-up their progress. However, doing new activities without supervision might lead to wastage of time and can even be dangerous. For an example, learning to play piano through random online videos can help the learner to grasp a few tunes but will not turn him into a professional pianist. Hence, guardian must provide enough guided learning experiences to their children.

Nonetheless, training children to remain gainfully busy by themselves has its own advantages. First and foremost, it makes children independent and improves their decision making power. When pupils themselves select an activity, they show greater enthusiasm to learn and they define their own steps for sharpening their abilities. Moreover, they save time which they might waste waiting for their teammates to be at par with them or matching with the class schedule. For an instance, an artistic child would be more efficient when practicing the art solo. Thus, being able to do interesting activities alone has a remarkable impact on a child’s caliber.

In my opinion, students must have exposure to a few guided activities. Alongside, they must utilize their time to do useful activities even without any supervision. This way they will be able to develop to the maximum possible extent.
